Larch is a quality softwood and when properly dried makes a great cheaper alternative to Hardwood. It burns hot, has a nice crackle and gives off a pleasant scent, it can also be burned with other wood for a longer burn time.  As softwood is faster growing, it is less dense than hardwood and will burn quicker we therefore don’t recommend this product for use in open fires.
